Success in Trucking Podcast: Update From ES Truck Sales

In this episode of the Success In Trucking Podcast, we’ll be talking with Danny Vernon and Tom Parker from ES Truck Sales. We’ll get a look at what’s happening in the equipment market and we’ll go inside how ES Truck Sales works with trucking professionals who are in the market to buy late-model, pre-owned trucks from ES.

This week, Spotlight News will be placing our focus on ES Truck Sales. We spent some time recently talking with Danny Vernon, Director of Truck Sales and Finance for ES, and Tom Parker, Danny’s first lieutenant on the Sales Team, to get an update on the latest happenings with truck sales and equipment financing as part of the comprehensive set of offerings that ES has made available for trucking professionals to access.

In this episode of the Success In Trucking Podcast Series, we focused on what’s happening in the overall truck market, how ES Truck Sales works with pre-owned equipment and how potential buyers can utilize the financing options available from ES.

In addition to Danny’s observations about the truck market and the activity the company has seen in the area of pre-owned equipment within the expedited sector of trucking, we spent some time talking to Tom about his first year at ES and what he has learned.

As you will hear during the podcast, we also took the opportunity to have Tom walk us through what happens when he gets a call from someone who is interested in buying a truck – including the care that ES takes to provide information about the truck to the potential buyer.

On the topic of financing and the comprehensive support that is available from ES, Danny talked to us about the Path To Ownership program from ES as well as the advantages of becoming part of the ES Community.

Exploring Straight Truck Opportunities & Getting Started Inside The ES Community

August 16, 2022

How many of you have considered exploring taking your trucking career in the direction of expediting and driving a straight truck? Perhaps you are looking into opportunities that offer an easier entry into the trucking industry with the ability for great earning potential or you’ve been in the industry a few years with a class A and are looking for something different. If so, have you looked into straight trucks and the expedited sector?

Spotlight News recently put these questions in front of David Withers, the Senior Director of Operations and Recruiting for ES. David joined us for our latest edition of the Success In Trucking Podcast Powered By ES. David and his teams in both Operations and Recruiting at ES are continually keeping their fingers on the pulse of what’s happening and trending with professional drivers.

David Withers, Senior Director of Operations and Recruiting for ES

Getting behind the wheel of a straight truck, and driving within the expedited sector of the trucking industry can sometimes be overlooked by new entrants considering opportunities in trucking or veteran drivers looking for a change in their careers. For new entrants into the industry, driving a straight truck can be a great way to get introduced to the industry. One advantage with straight truck opportunities is that you don’t have to secure a Class A license to drive a straight truck.

During our Success In Trucking Podcast interview with David, we discuss the straight truck opportunities that are currently available in the ES Community, and David provides an introduction to the programs and services that are available when you become part of the ES Community. We also discuss how ES works to match up professional drivers with the expedited carriers that are a part of the ES Community.

One of the points that is highlighted during the podcast is the level of support that ES Community members receive from the team at ES from the moment that first phone call is made or first email is sent to the Recruiting Team at ES. In addition, David discusses the support that ES Community members will be receiving from the Service Coordinators in Operations.

If you are new to the industry or if you are a trucking veteran seeking a better path, the conversation with David during this edition of the Success In Trucking Podcast should prove to be quite helpful in your search for an opportunity that has the ability to deliver a better quality of life for you and your family.

New IN-SITE Presentation Offers Look Inside Comprehensive Services Available Through The ES Community

August 9, 2022

In mid-July, Jeff Tacker from the ES Leadership Team made the most of an opportunity he had to speak about all the programs and support services that are available inside of the ES Community. Though he stood behind a podium, Jeff, who is the Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Commercial Officer for ES, made sure that he kept things conversational while clearly showing the company’s passion for helping professional drivers and aspiring trucking entrepreneurs.

For those in the capacity audience who were learning about ES for the first time, Jeff’s presentation not only provided a closer look at the comprehensive set of services and opportunities that ES has developed in looking at the industry from the truck level up, but, most importantly, the information and inspiration Jeff shared through his words offered a view into the future and how success in trucking is achieved as part of the ES Community.

For those people in the audience who are already a part of the ES Community, Jeff’s presentation during the IN-SITE Dinner at the Expo served as a great reminder of how ES has evolved and grown through the years to help independent contract drivers, owner-operators, fleet owners and truck entrepreneurs meet the challenges of running a successful business within an ever-changing trucking industry.

Jeff’s remarks served as a fitting exclamation point on the first day of the Expedite Expo, which was held this year in Fort Wayne, Ind. Just as the company had done in past years, ES hosted the IN-SITE Dinner at the Expo, bringing together current ES Community members with newcomers to the event who expressed an interest in learning more about the wide variety of programs and services available from ES.

Spotlight News was also on the ground at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne for the IN-SITE Dinner at the Expo. The Spotlight News video team recorded the presentations by the evening’s speakers, and our video team has put together a streamlined edition of Jeff’s presentation to share with you through Spotlight News.

Jeff told the packed house that, without question, there are a lot of challenges and uncertainty in the world today. But, as you’ll see through the video, Jeff was able to offer those in the audience (and those who watch the video) a sense of hope through the comprehensive offerings available through the ES Community. What Jeff shares through the video is another example of the deep sense of dedication that ES has to helping professional drivers and trucking entrepreneurs to Never Stand Alone and to help them realize their dreams while achieving greater levels of success in trucking.

Spotlight News invites you to watch our Highlights From the 2022 IN-SITE Dinner at the Expo featuring Jeff Tacker, the Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Commercial Officer for ES. Conversations At The Expo Can Lead To New & Growing Opportunities

August 2, 2022

Over the past few weeks, Spotlight News has placed a strong focus on the annual Expedite Expo. For those of you who have never had the opportunity to attend the Expedite Expo over the past two decades, we wanted to provide you with some insights on why this event has become an important gathering place for the expedited trucking community since it was first launched.

The Expedite Expo, which is hosted by On Time Media, offers countless opportunities for conversations to begin.

And many of the conversations that are started at the Expo will lead to opportunities for business growth for those who attend the event. This is one of the many reasons that ES has served as the presenting sponsor of the Expedite Expo for several years now, and it’s among the leading reasons that ES has featured the largest booth presence at the Expo as well.

During this year’s Expo, Spotlight News had a video crew onsite to record some of our conversations with Expo attendees. Our recording sessions especially focused on people within the ES Community and those who are connected to the ES Community through their companies and organizations.

As you’ll see from the first video that we are sharing from our time at this year’s Expedite Expo, we are able to highlight the power of conversation and the connections that can be made when people are able to gather together in a community setting. One of the best features of our first video from our time at this year’s event in Fort Wayne is that it is presented to speak to those people who were not able to attend this year’s Expo.

Through the video featured below, you’ll hear from a collection of people who were at the Expo discussing how conversations that were started with ES over the years have led to new opportunities and business growth. For example, we feature a portion of our interview with Ellen Voie, the President and CEO of the Women In Trucking Association (WIT). Ellen highlights the impact that has been made through the 150 Business Challenge, the collaborative initiative between ES and WIT to create 150 women-owned businesses in transportation. This program, which has created more than 140 women-owned businesses to date, is on track to reach the goal of 150 before the end of 2022.

Our latest video also provides some perspective on what’s happening in the truck market and how ES is well-positioned to assist new entrants to the programs from ES as well as current members of the ES Community. You will hear part of our interview with Nate Meyer, who is part of the Equipment Sales Team at Stoops Freightliner. Nate has worked with ES for many years, and Stoops Freightliner & Truck Country is one of largest truck dealerships in North America. Nate’s comments in the video are very timely and they outline quite well the advantages of working with ES through the Path To Ownership and other programs available from ES.

For those of you who would like to see some perspective from current ES Community members who have utilized the programs from ES to grow their business, this video will bring you the observations of Joe and Carol Shelton. While Spotlight News did an extended interview with Joe and Carol to hear their story of how ES was there for them at the start of their trucking careers, the comments from the Sheltons featured in the video show the path that’s possible when working with ES. As you will hear, the Sheltons, in becoming part of the ES Community, went from being contract drivers to building a business and now owning a small fleet of expedited trucks.

David Withers, the Senior Director of Operations & Recruiting at ES, summed up the power of the conversations that began at the Expo by noting that a conversation can be the beginning for the start of a lasting relationship. As David explains in the video, ES is always reaching out to people in the industry and those who are interested in the industry. As David points out in his closing comments, this video can be a conversation starter of its own. After you watch the video, you may be inspired to reach out and give the team at ES a call at 877-349-9303.

We Enjoyed Connecting with You at the 2022 Expedite Expo & IN-SITE Dinner At The Expo

July 20, 2022

Thanks for Attending!

The 2022 Expedite Expo provided countless opportunities over the tradeshow’s two-day, mid-July run for those attending to both network and to explore what is possible within the expedited sector of the trucking industry. Inside the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, Ind., professional drivers, independent contractors, owner-operators, fleet owners, industry vendors, motor carriers and those considering entering the industry came together to see what’s happening inside of the expedited trucking.

One of the highlights of the event was provided by ES, which served once again as the presenting sponsor of the Expedite Expo. The IN-SITE Dinner at the Expo, hosted by ES, attracted a full house of nearly 200 people within one of the event hall rooms in the Fort Wayne conference facility. The IN-SITE Dinner gave everyone in attendance an introduction to the ES Community in a relaxed atmosphere with great food and conversation, while also sharing a deep look inside of expediting as well as what is on the horizon across the overall trucking industry.

The IN-SITE Dinner event, with its presentation of information and guest speakers, offered a strong overview for the options and support that are available for achieving greater levels of success in trucking as a part of the ES Community. Jeff Tacker, Executive Vice President, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Commercial Officer for ES, served as the master of ceremonies for the IN-SITE Dinner at the Expo. Jeff provided the audience with a historical overview of expedited trucking while also sharing how ES company co-founders Paul and Jason Williams entered trucking and launched Expediter Services.

The 2022 edition of the IN-SITE Dinner at the Expo was truly an exploration of possibilities within expediting, highlighting the paths that are available within the ES Community. Jeff welcomed representatives from FedEx Custom Critical and Panther Premium Logistics, a Service of ArcBest, to the podium to each greet the audience. FedEx Custom Critical and Panther Premium Logistics are two of the motor carriers within the ES Community, and both companies had a significant booth presence on the floor at the Expo.

The IN-SITE Dinner at the Expo also featured some timely remarks from Joe Kalafat, who is part of the ownership group for On Time Media – the company that developed the Expedite Expo and has hosted the annual event for more than 20 years. The audience also received an insightful update on what’s happening in the new equipment market from Nick Lengacher, who is the General manager for the New Haven, Ind., location of Stoops Freightliner and Truck Country.  As part of one of the largest truck dealerships in the country, Nick was able to relate the realities regarding the availability of new trucks as well as how Stoops and Truck Country work with the ES Community.

Before the event closed with a door prize drawing that included cash, Jeff took some time to talk about the programs and the support services from ES and how the company was built with a focus on looking at the industry from the truck level and up – always seeking to support the people behind the wheel within their respective operations. Jeff explained the ES motto of Never Stand Alone and how those words come to life within the ES Community. Jeff also shared what can be possible as a member of the ES Community by telling the audience:

“We’ve had people start inside our program with one truck and grow to 100-plus trucks. We’ve had other people decide they want to drive as an independent contract driver and not explore ownership, because that’s what they wanted to do. You have the ability to determine your path. The ES Community is here to help you pursue and achieve your dreams within this industry,” said Jeff. “With ES, we believe there is an opportunity for everyone in this room.

“Whether you’re an independent contract driver, an owner-operator or fleet owner, whether you’re a motor carrier, or, whether you’re a vendor, there’s an opportunity for everybody in this room,” Jeff added. “Through what we have shared with you at the IN-SITE Dinner, we want to make sure you get a glimpse of a vision that’s taking place in this industry and within our ES Community. We want you to know what’s possible, and that you can achieve new levels of success in trucking that are better for you and your family.”
