A Time for Thanks

November 22, 2022

During this season of Thanksgiving, ES would like to give thanks to YOU, the independent contractors, owner-operators, fleet owners, motor carriers and vendors, who are the backbone of everything we do as a community. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve your business and the ES Community.

You are the reason ES continues to invest in support services, programs, technologies, people and office space in order serve you better by providing opportunities for business generation — through good freight and bad.

Happy Thanksgiving from Expediter Services

We have much to be thankful for in 2022, and we’re looking forward to 2023 to serve you even better.

Please Note Office Closures: ES offices will be closed Thursday, November 24th and Friday, November 25th in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. Our normal hours will resume Monday, November 28th.

Proclamation of Thanksgiving

“The year that is drawing towards its close, has been filled with the blessings of fruitful fields and healthful skies. To these bounties, which are so constantly enjoyed that we are prone to forget the source from which they come, others have been added…

No human counsel hath devised nor hath any mortal hand worked out these great things. They are the gracious gifts of the Most High God, who, while dealing with us in anger for our sins, hath nevertheless remembered mercy.

It has seemed to me fit and proper that they should be solemnly, reverently and gratefully acknowledged as with one heart and one voice by the whole American People,  I do therefore invite my fellow citizens in every part of the United States, and also those who are at sea and those who are sojourning in foreign lands, to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November next, as a day of Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens. And I recommend to them that while offering up the ascriptions justly due to Him for such singular deliverances and blessings, they do also, with humble penitence for our national perverseness and disobedience, commend to His tender care all those who have become widows, orphans, mourners or sufferers in the lamentable civil strife in which we are unavoidably engaged, and fervently implore the interposition of the Almighty Hand to heal the wounds of the nation and to restore it as soon as may be consistent with the Divine purposes to the full enjoyment of peace, harmony, tranquility and Union.”

ES Announces Expansion of Women-Owned Business Initiative

November 17, 2022

ES is excited to announce that the company has met its goal of creating and growing 150 women-owned businesses and is expanding the initiative to continue to finance and support women-owned businesses in the transportation industry. ES Co-Founder & CEO Jason Williams shared the news during the Women In Trucking Association’s annual Accelerate! Conference being held in Dallas.

ES Co-Founder & CEO on the main stage at the Accelerate Conference with Ellen Voie, the President & CEO of the Women In Trucking Association.

First announced at the 2017 Accelerate! Conference as a collaborative initiative between ES and the Women In Trucking Association (WIT), the 150 Business Challenge became a proven platform for the creation and expansion of women-owned businesses in trucking by utilizing the ES Path To Ownership program model as well as the support and resources available to members of the ES Community.

“From the time that we launched Expediter Services in 2006, part of our mission has always been to work with professional drivers who want to pursue the American Dream of owning their own business. Over the years, we have worked to create programs and support systems through our ES Community that are designed to level the playing field for anyone who has the desire and the commitment to start and operate their own trucking business,” said Williams.

“From the first time I met with the team at ES, it was clear to me that promoting diversity is in the DNA of ES. Creating opportunities that can empower women to become truck owners and start businesses in the trucking industry is part of what ES does, and that commitment is great for our industry,” said Ellen Voie, President & CEO of the Women In Trucking Association.

As part of the program, ES offers participants competitive market-rate financing via the relationship lending model established through ES Equipment Finance. ES is excited to announce that the company has met its goal of creating and growing 150 women-owned businesses in partnership with the Women In Trucking Association and is expanding the initiative to continue to finance and support women-owned businesses in the transportation industry with a commitment of $40 million to the program!

The program is designed to have the participants run under the authority of the motor carriers participating in the program through the ES Community. Truck ownership is achieved with an affordable payment plan and with program participants receiving consistent miles from the participating carriers as well as business support from the ES Team. Forward Air, FedEx Custom Critical and Panther Premium Logistics (a service of ArcBest) were the first carriers within the ES Community to utilize the non-asset capacity being generated by the 150 Business Challenge.

“We know there is more work to be done in opening the doors of business ownership for women in the trucking industry. This is why we are continuing the important work started through the 150 Business Challenge under our new ES Women-Owned Business Initiative. As always, we want to continue to be a trusted resource for making truck ownership and business creation opportunities for trucking professionals and for those people who are thinking about entering the industry,” said Williams.

ES has a landing page with more information on our commitment to assist in the creation of women-owned businesses available through the following link: https://essuccessintrucking.com/women-in-trucking/.

Colleen Umbehant Achieving New Levels Of Success With Women-Owned Business Initiative From ES

October 27, 2022

After years of working with used and refurbished equipment, Colleen Umbehant had been searching for an answer that would position her trucking business for a greater level of success. She had already established her independence, running under the motor carrier authority of Panther Premium Logistics, a Service of ArcBest. A veteran of the trucking industry who started driving in 1996 to support her family, Colleen had found a home with Panther and she has always been open to the new opportunities that Panther presented to the fleet.

When ES announced in November of 2017 the launch of the company’s Women-Owned Business initiative to assist in the creation and growth of women-owned businesses in trucking, Panther, as a partner motor carrier in the ES Community, moved forward to participate in the program. One of the first steps that Panther took was to share the news of the program across the fleet.

“I always knew that having a new truck could make a huge difference for me, and, one day, a friend of mine with Panther asked me if I had seen the email about the new program from ES,” Colleen recalled. “I looked into the program and then I contacted ES.”

By February of 2018, Colleen was climbing aboard her new Class 8 tractor. ES had lined Colleen up with her chosen, make and model of truck, which only had a handful miles in coming fresh off the factory line to the dealership. Colleen utilized ES Equipment Finance to obtain competitive market-rate financing with a truck payment that worked perfectly with her business plan.

“She’s been the best truck that we’ve ever had, and ES made it so easy for us. We came to their offices, signed the paperwork, got the truck and started rolling,” Colleen explained. “That truck is exactly what we needed for our business. We’ve really been able to put our truck to work and I can’t say enough about the support that we have received from Panther and ES.”

Trucking is a family business for Colleen. A mother of five, Colleen was encouraged to consider entering the trucking industry 26 years ago by her oldest daughter. Watching Colleen drive for some over-the-road carriers early in her career, Colleen’s son, James, was inspired to explore opportunities as a professional driver. James earned his CDL, and Colleen assisted in finishing his training at a truckload carrier before finding her way to Panther about 10 years ago. Currently, Colleen and James are team drivers aboard the truck that she now owns.

“I made my final payment in May, and it’s amazing to think that I now own this truck,” said Colleen. “It has served us well and we do everything we can to take good care of it. One of things that has made a difference for me is that ES has always treated me like a business partner. They laid everything out for me from the beginning. Everything they told me was true and they have always stood behind what they said.

“Panther has also treated me like a business partner, and they are the best company that I have ever driven for. I plan to stay here until I retire,” Colleen added. “Looking back on my experience with ES and their truck ownership program, I would highly recommend it for any woman or man who wants to start out on their own with their own truck. It was definitely the right move for me and my business.”

Are you inspired by Colleen’s story and want to grow your trucking business? Contact the ES team or call (877) 349-9303 and let us help support your company with expertise in financial services and technology, relationship lending, and general business support.
