Spotlight On Success: Morty and Stephanie Perez
In a recent episode of the Success In Trucking Podcast, Morty and Stephanie Perez shared their inspiring story of transitioning from aspiring owner-operators to successful business owners on the road. While they have experienced a few bumps along the way, their unwavering support of each other, as well as that from the Ascent and ES teams, shows that our community members Never Stand Alone.

Fun Fact: Morty and Stephanie are the first PTO graduates to take possession of their new truck at Ascent. It is a 2025 Peterbilt 579, they affectionately call – Big Red.
During the conversation, Morty emphasized how having his wife, Stephanie, by his side as both his partner in life and in their trucking business was the key to navigating the challenges of the trucking industry. “It’s amazing to have support,” Morty said. “We’ve been able to work out a schedule and roles that take the burden off of each other, making it much easier than if we were going at this alone.”
After attempts with two other traditional lease purchase programs, they discovered ES and embarked on the Path to Ownership Program. Over the past 15 months, Expediter Services and Ascent have provided guidance, training, and resources needed to help the Perez team grow from newcomers to empowered owner-operators. “Other lease purchase programs, you are pretty much on your own,” Morty emphasized, “and with ES, you are only a phone call away from help.”
Their story is a testament to how critical it is to have the right people in your corner as you build your business, whether it is at home, in the seat next to you, or through strategic partners.
According to Stephanie, their only regret was “that we didn’t find ES and Ascent sooner.”
